The Pacific’s Largest Solar Project is an important effort to increase the nation's renewable energy capabilities. The project aims to decrease Fiji's reliance on fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, offer energy access to numerous households, and lead to significant economic savings. This initiative is a vital move in Fiji's aim to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030, showcasing how renewable energy initiatives can promote sustainable development and economic strength.

The Solar Home PV Program in Fiji is a notable effort designed to supply electricity to isolated households in rural areas where accessing the primary grid is not possible. Administered by the Department of Energy (DoE), the initiative originally adhered to the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model but has now transitioned to a modified RESCO strategy, where the government assumes complete accountability for its implementation. The initial equipment purchases and installation costs for the program are covered by capital provided by donors, while all the supplied and installed components are owned by the government. This project has effectively provided dependable lighting and essential electrical services to numerous isolated households, greatly enhancing living conditions and allowing for access to modern conveniences. Improving the quality of life for Fiji's rural population is a key focus for the country, which includes boosting the use of renewable energy and decreasing dependency on fossil fuels.
